Dr. Gorla is currently a Research Assistant at the Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informazione e Bioingegneria (DEIB) at Politecnico di Milano, Milan, Italy. While his core research interests remain in Molecular Communication and Redox-based molecular-electrical interfacing, his current work also explores Semantic Information and AI-based approaches to problem-solving in Molecular Communication, under the guidance of Dr. Maurizio Magarini.

Karthik Reddy Gorla holds a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT). He worked for two years as a Developer and Program Analyst at Cognizant Technology Solutions in Bangalore, India, before pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Computer Engineering. His master's thesis, "A Computational Framework to Model and Characterize a Molecular to Electrical Communication Interface based on Redox Reactions," laid the foundation for his research in molecular-electrical communication.

He went on to complete a PhD in Engineering, with a dissertation titled "Fundamentals of Molecular-Electrical Communication Interfacing based on Redox Electrochemistry," under the guidance of Dr. Massimiliano Pierobon. His research focused on the Internet of Bio-Nano Things, Molecular Communication, and Synthetic Biology, particularly investigating Redox reactions as an interface between molecular and electrical domains. Following his PhD, he briefly worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate under Dr. Pierobon.
